For Emily Christopherson, a professional tournament win has remained just out of reach throughout the the ’16 and ’17 seasons. Late this afternoon, she reached new stepping stones on the road to her first place finish in Hayward, Wisconsin.
Last summer, Christopherson fell short of winning a world championship to Ellie Davenport. Today, Christopherson pulled off a strong win over Davenport for the first time in her career in a nail-biting semi-final. She also defeated Haley Penning, Abby Hoeschler, and Gretchen Greene to accomplish her Namekagon River Roll-Off title.
Efer Christopherson made an impressive showing at today’s event in the professional men’s division in his 2017 competitive debut. Katie Rick also competed among many of the best in the women’s field.
LOOKING TOWARDS THE BIG WEEKEND
It all begins this Thursday. Local standouts Connor Birdsong, Garrick Birdsong, and Efer Christopherson look to be major condenders in the men’s World Championship tournament after Connor’s U.S. Open win early this season and Garrick’s impressive finishes throughout the year. Emily Christopherson and Katie Rick have set the stage for an intense weekend of competition.
